Rate the Names!
about 4 years ago – Sat, Mar 21, 2020 at 12:51:32 PM

Hello Again,

As more locations lock down and infection rates go up, I hope RPGs can be a comfort these days.

I'm still waiting one map for the first issue of the zine, but that's it. The first issue should be out next week.

As mentioned last time, I'm also looking for a new name for the zine. I have it nailed down to four titles. If you get a chance I'd love to hear what you think. Follow the link below to say what you think about the names:

I'll be sending out another survey soon asking for people's thoughts on future issues.

Don't forget to fill out the Backer Kit survey!

Thanks,

Matthew

What is in a Name?
about 4 years ago – Mon, Mar 16, 2020 at 05:16:09 PM

Hello All,

First I hope you are staying well in these chaotic times.

The PDF of the first issue is nearly ready. I'm just waiting for the final version of the new art to plug into the new adventure.

By now you should have all gotten an email from Backer Kit with survey information. If you have not gotten one, let me know and I'll work with you to make sure you get one. This is especially important for print backers, since is how I'm collecting your address. Even if you are a PDF only backer its helpful because I'm also using this to collect names for the “Back Thanks” section of the book.

Speaking of Names

To date I've been using the working title The Abstract Dungeon Zine for the zine, but as I get ready to publish I find it's kind of dull. It's a bit late in the process for this but I've started brainstorming a new name. One idea is to use a variation on the word abstract, like Abstractions or Abstractionist. Another is to use something that ties into game mechanics like The Dice Pool or Traits and Treasures. A third is to use some kind fantasy or RPG trope like Infinite Worlds.

I'm curious to hear what you think. I've added a question about names to the opinion survey, or you can let me know in the comments.

Surveys and Surveys
about 4 years ago – Sun, Mar 08, 2020 at 02:39:04 PM

Hello Backers,

First of all, in my last update, I mentioned an opinion survey. I thought I had attached a link to that, but it turns out I missed it somehow. Here's the real survey link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdbxJosnYRtXV20WyGWL_WZsjdBQow0wzWCJrihnef8KdU5ag/viewform?usp=sf_link

Speaking of surveys, you should get a reward survey email from Backer Kit in the next few days. These are especially important for print backers, as these are the ways that I collect your shipping addresses.

Finally, I want to give you a quick status update. Thanks to the completing some stretch goals, we added some content to issue number one. I'm completed all the writing for that and it's out for editing. I also added one new illustration, which is underway. I hope to get those within a week or two and will get the first issue of the PDF out after that.

That's all for now.

Thanks,

Matthew

Tell Us What You Want to See!

Hello Abstract Zine Backers,

Now that the Kickstarter campaign for the Abstract Dungeon Zine is over, I've started work getting it all out to you. I just sent out coupon codes through DriveThruRPG to those whose pledge level includes a copy of the Abstract Dungeon core book and/or Monster Cards as PDF. I used the same email that Kickstarter has on file. If you have another email  for DriveThru or just prefer not to use DriveThru, let me know and I'll make sure to get it to you another way. I'll send print copies of the core book along with the first copy of the zine.

Abstract Zine Survey

One of my favorite parts of Kickstarter campaigns has always been the way it lets me interact with the backers and get your direct input to share the final outcome. To that end, I've put together a quick survey to ask you want you want to see in future issues of the zine. This first survey is a wide open short answer questions. I'll follow up soon with a multiple choice survey based on some of the answer I get from this.

This is different from the rewards survey that includes your address and the like, and it is not required, but it's helpful for me to know going forwards. The rewards survey will come out within the next week or so.

More Art!

I just got a second batch of art in for the first issue of the Abstract Dungeon Zine. A couple of my favorite images are below. Because we expanded the issue with stretch goals, I'm going to quick order another couple of pieces for the new content, but should still have the PDF ready in early March.

That's all for now. I'm sure I'll have more to update you all on soon.

This is just a quick note to say thanks to all of you for supporting the Abstract Dungeon Zine! With your help we'll put out four great issues in the coming year supporting Abstract Dungeon.

There will be a lot more information in the coming days, but for now I just want to say how excited I am, and thank you again for backing.
